Hey guys! Didn’t manage to do much update as I wasn’t in town recently. Home sweet home & time to update!
Mushrooms mushrooms! While I was in Taiwan, I was introduced to this restaurant by the local specializing in mushrooms delicacy and products. So while touring around Taichung, we dropped by for lunch @ 震樺餐廳 Jenhua restaurant in Taichung.
& this place is recommended by the tourism board for tourists for their products!
Having been around for many years, the interior of the restaurant does give off a retro & homely feel. 3/4 of the place is the restaurant, while the remaining area are for their sale of mushroom products.
While we were there, the other side of the restaurant were quite full of guests, guess they were from a tour group (because I saw the buses outside heh)
If you look at the menu at first glance, you probably think that it’s a vegetarian restaurant, but no worries people, there are still meat dishes for carnivores haha.
We actually ordered the 1200TWD set for 3-4 which is a 7 course set. You ask me why, the reason is just because we were super hungry so we want everything haha.
Appetizer before the dishes come, these are like the mushroom version of kimchi, the QQ texture make the dish really tasty, and a tact of spiciness make it really appetizing. (Appetizer already so tasty omg)
Next came this hotpot soup which tons of nutritious ingredients. Mushrooms, corns, pork etc. This photo is not doing the dish justice (my fault luh). The soup taste really sweet, and the sweetness comes from the natural ingredients in the soup. I feel healthier drinking this soup haha.
Oh yes, the set meal comes with white rice, you don’t need to order separately!
One of the dishes in the set is based on their seasonal vegetables. Here we have it: Stir fried mushrooms with cabbage. I quite like their vegetables really, they have this natural sweetness in it.
Stir-fried bamboo shoots with scallops, oh yes I’m quite a fan of scallops 😀
Seems like a vegetarian lunch so far yeah, but hey no yet people.
Carnivores, here comes the meat! Not just normal pork sausages, but stuffed with mushrooms yeah! I was surprised by its taste, fragrant and not dry at all (though it does look dry here). I was actually sad when the dish was about to be finished haha.
This looks like the chicken in our usual chicken rice yeah. But this is actually a cold dish, pair the chicken with the soya sauce provided! Thumbs up!
Baked mushrooms with cheese yo! Both of my favorites in one dish! The mushroom though tasted a bit bland, but when you eat it together with the cheese, it compliment each other. 🙂
I’m glad my lunch feels healthy (This is so important when you go for holiday (eat & eat) right) 😀
Plum soup are free flow btw!
Hop over to the other side to get some local mushroom products for your family and friends, some of the products are really interesting:
Sun biscuits are well known in Taiwan, but with mushrooms? Apparently, it’s like one of the hot seller there, because when we were there in the afternoon they were left with one box (yeah that’s the one).
Mushroom biscuits! Oh personally I do recommend this, I kind of like the taste of the biscuit, salty + mushroom fragrant + crispy. 😀 They so have vegetable biscuits too!
Usually people get pork/chicken floss yeah, but these are mushroom floss :O It taste quite sweet actually, eat it with porridge & it never goes wrong!
If you still prefer the common tibits/local products, they do have some as well (although I do recommending buying at other places because there are more varieties out there)
Condiments made from mushrooms are available too! & cheap cheap 😀
That’s right, you definitely can get mushrooms there in packets to bring home. These are the pre-packed ones or if you wanna buy more…
You can get as much as you want as well, they can pack for you based on how much you want! Different varieties of mushrooms are available to choose from!
Definitely a good place for the mushroom lovers, you get to eat and buy at the same time.
